Submission portals use "XMP Metadata" to check if you're lying about when you finished a project. A file created 5 minutes ago but claimed as "due yesterday" is a red flag. This tool synchronizes the internal clock to your narrative.
The Danger of Defaults
When you export a PDF, your computer secretly records your OS version, your user account name, and the exact millisecond of creation. Most people "Print to PDF" and assume the file is clean. It's not.
Portals flag uploads that have creation dates *after* the deadline.
IT departments can track the exact machine used via Producer tags.
Under the Hood
XMP Stream Rewriting
The spoofer directly modifies the PDF's internal XMP metadata streams — the same fields used by Adobe, forensic tools, and compliance scanners to verify document authenticity.
Fully Local Processing
All metadata manipulation happens in your browser using pdf-lib. Your document is never uploaded anywhere — it's loaded into memory, rewritten, and returned as a fresh download.
